The World Health Organization has recognized the International Lifesaving Federation (ILS) for its role in global drowning prevention.

As part of the honor, the ILS is now designated with “WHO Official Relations” status, and all WHO member nations and ILS groups will collaborate on further international drowning prevention work. WHO is also a directing authority within the United Nations, responsible for providing leadership on global health matters, setting standards, assessing trends and more.
