Those charged with developing the Model Aquatic Health Code anticipate that all but three modules are likely to be ready for public comment by the end of the year.

All industry professionals have the chance to weigh in on the modules’ recommendations. The MAHC is an effort to create more uniform pool operation guidelines spearheaded by the CDC and supported by initial grant funding from the National Swimming Pool Foundation.

As of press time, Risk Management was posted for comment on Sept. 16, and the Operation and Maintenance, Hygiene Facilities and Regulatory Program administration modules were awaiting CDC clearance for release. Disinfection and Water Quality, Design and Construction, and Lifeguard/Bather Supervision also are expected up for comment soon. The comment period lasts 60 days.
