CISD Natatorium is owned and operated by Conroe Independent School District. The 16,007-square-foot, 65-meter
aquatic arena was designed to be a central facility that can
accommodate local or major competitive events. It also satisfies
CISD’s five high school aquatics programs and provides
aquatics space for the general community through inter-local
agreements with the local parks and recreation department.
With its dual movable bulkheads, the large pool can accommodate
swimming, diving and water polo competitions along with other
aquatic programming. There’s also a state-of-the-art
To optimally serve a population of 5,500 competitive aquatic
athletes, the facility is equipped with several sports arena-type
features, including a pro shop and concessions area. The 191/2 feet
of deck space surrounding the pool provides 12,000 square feet for
portable deck bleachers suitable for 900 participants.
There’s permanent seating for 1,100.
Additionally, the natatorium is equipped with Wi-Fi Internet
service capabilities. Other state-of-the-art features include
automated controllers, high-rate sand filters, high-quality timing
and sound systems, and movable bulkheads.
When it comes to staffing, a strong focus is on continuing
education and professional certifications. Employees are supported
by an active volunteer corps. Volunteers provide key services
during school-sponsored or school-related activities.
Finally, to ensure the facility’s success, CISD developed a
targeted marketing plan. Much of the communication occurs via the
Internet, but printed material reaches 4,800 patrons
