At NR2O Family Water Park, it’s all about the little details — and operators go the extra mile to meet and exceed guests’ expectations.

For example, free parking, tubes and life jackets are standard, and visitors also may bring in their own coolers at no additional charge.

When it comes to amenities, operators strive to follow a plan of regularly adding new attractions. For instance, this year they debuted The Viper, a first-of-its-kind family thrill ride.

Guests also want, and expect, a well-trained staff. So besides attending a general orientation, team members participate in hands-on training specific to their departments. For example, new food and beverage workers have a day where they cook and serve the food to other team members who are at the park for their own training.

To minimize the need to train new employees, staff retention is an important goal, and team members in good standing are invited to a rehire party before the main summer hiring begins.

Since NRH2O opened in 1995, overall and group attendance have both increased. The park is owned by the city of North Richland Hills, so local families are a key demographic. City residents receive a discounted admission rate, and NRH2O gives back to the community by collecting school supplies. For one week each August, waterpark guests who donate supplies receive $5 off general admission. The supplies go to the local school district for kids who can’t afford them.

NRH2O is committed to conservation as well. To save money and provide a clean, green environment, the park’s green technology includes low-flow toilets, sensors on faucets and paper towel dispensers; and in-park recycling.
