The Boardwalk at Hersheypark offers the best of two classic family vacations — a trip to the seashore and a day at the theme park. Located inside Hersheypark and included in the
general admission, The Boardwalk offers a full waterpark experience
with nine attractions, including one of the largest water-play
structures in the world, plus food, games and shopping inspired by
some of the East Coast’s most popular boardwalks.

To help spread the word about the new additions, Team
Hersheypark launched a marketing blitz for The Boardwalk: The
SEAquel in April 2009. Messages centered on family fun, and the
multimedia approach featured TV, radio, print, online advertising,
billboards, bus wraps and backs, toll booth signs, aerial
advertising, movie theater on-screen ads, and partnerships with two
Major League Baseball teams: the N.Y. Mets and the 2008 World
Series Champion Philadelphia Phillies.
The target audience for Hersheypark is largely in the New York;
Washington, D.C.; and Philadelphia areas.
The Mets debuted a new ballpark in spring 2009, which made them
ideal partners for the Hersheypark operation. The arrangement
allowed Hersheypark to set up The SEAquel Dunktank in the
ballpark’s Family Fun area. The dunk tank — branded
with all things Hershey-park — was such a hit that the line
to pitch the ball and attempt to win Hersheypark tickets had to be
cut off in the 7th inning.
