The Park House at Shoal Creek Valley is the centerpiece for a lifestyle planned community adjacent to Liberty, Missouri featuring 1,700 acres of residential, retail, and recreation development. The community incorporates a variety of residential environments, from stately neighborhoods with woodland and golf course views to traditional neighborhood design, with activity areas where families gather within walking distance to shops, restaurants, and services.

The aquatic park was planned and developed to be an attractive amenity to entice potential homeowners to join the growing community. It was uniquely designed to invoke the feel of a family “beach retreat” and bring theming and large-scale leisure into a neighborhood facility, creating a unique experience.

That tone is set from point of entry, as the guests pass through an ocean-side themed shack that serves as the bathhouse. Once inside, the two separate pools allow adults to escape from the stresses of everyday life, and the kids to enjoy the excitement of waterpark-style attractions. Everyone can enjoy coming together in the family friendly features in the main pool, which include water sprays and a 260-foot-long lazy river. The main pool also features the water slide tower, custom-designed to resemble a beach-style lifeguard watchtower, features include a traditional curvy open-flume body slide and a smaller-scaled speed slide that drops from a 19 foot tall tower and overlooks the entire facility and is prominently marked with flags.

The adult pool includes large step areas that allow convenient entry from three sides, and also includes built-in bench seating along the remaining perimeter. There’s also lots of space for lounging on the deck, which includes several shade cabanas.

All told, this facility became a reality thanks to the selection of affordable building materials and construction techniques. Rather than rely on specialty techniques like gunite, the structures were constructed utilizing high quality cast-in-place concrete. The epoxy paint coatings for the pools and the edge treatment were also carefully selected to provide high-quality yet affordable construction. 

Additionally, the water treatment systems includes conventional vertical sand filters along with conventional end-suction pumps due to their affordability, but they were designed with a lower filter loading rate and higher sand bed depth to enhance the effective water treatment. With lower filter loading rates, the filter pumps operate at lower pressures thereby also reducing the electrical consumption of the facility.

The end result is a facility that the Shoal Creek Community can enjoy and afford for decades to come.
