It pays to be a dad. That’s what the North Richland Hills Parks and Recreation Department said with its “Big Splash Father’s Day Bash,” which gave the first 100 dads free admission to the waterpark and all-day participation in family games and activities.
Billing itself as a family facility, the North Richland Hills, Texas, waterpark hosts various family and community events — a mix that earned it first place in this year’s Class 9 competition.
Among the amenities is Frogstein’s Splashatory, which allows entire families and their “mad scientists” to play together under one five-level play attraction with 130 water “interactives.”
Emphasizing a commitment to families and community, NRH2O hosts evenings such as “Dive-In Movie” and “Little Miss and Mister Hawaiian Tropic Pageant.”
Safety awareness events bring local police and fire departments to host programs from fingerprinting to fire engine tours. In addition to “Keeping Kids Safe Day,” NRH2O partners with community organizations to educate families about safety. NRH2O’s own lifeguard team competes annually in regional competitions, and lifeguards are randomly tested with mannequins in the pool.
