A family filed a civil suit against Calypso Water Park for a July 3, 2013, assault that allegedly left a brother and sister with concussions and permanent disabilities.
The statement filed June 12 allege that the alleged assailants were members of a gang that park security was familiar with and should have been ejected. The suit states the five defendants were over served alcohol by park staff and then attacked the plaintiffs.
A similar lawsuit was filed last year alleging that Calypso overserved patrons who were involved in an incident in the parking lot. The new suit also joins recent civil filings from May and June alleging injuries from rides. A woman filed a lawsuit in September alleging an injury on a water slide. The park also goes to trial this fall for 20 charges that it failed on safety and staff training compliance.
