Diana Nyad is making headlines once again.

The 64-year-old swimmer who gained media attention in October with her swim from Cuba to Florida has joined the cast of the popular ABC reality series Dancing With the Stars for its 18th season.

Following the 110-mile trek last year, Nyad garnered criticism from MarathonSwimming.org, an organization of marathon swimmers that questioned her success, leaving many to wonder if she actually swam the entire route. She and her team denied the claims, however.

The new Dancing With the Stars contestant, a writer who has released three books and contributed to The New York Times and NPR's All Things Considered, is set to publish a memoir sometime in 2015. Read More
