The world of competitive swimming remembers the passing of the sport's unsung legend.
Guy Gibbons, commonly known as the "OMEGA rep" on the pool deck as a representative of Swiss Timing, died November 15. He was 51.
Originally from Montreal, Gibbons swam for Pointe-Claire Swim Club at a young boy. He later became involved in swimming timing through his father Mike, who oversaw timing at several Olympic Games.
A well-known fixture during meets throughout Canada, Gibbons was passionate about swim meets and ensuring his team ran each one professionally.
"He's been a great member of the community, a great contributor and he's going to be sorely missed," said Swimming Canada CEO Ahmed El-Awadi in a press release. Read More
