At a ribbon cutting for its newly named Momentum water slide last month, Hurricane Alley Waterpark operators announced  a new $50,000 scholarship for prospective students at nearby Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi University. The waterslide is named for the momentum sculpture donated to the campus by the waterpark's owners, the Durrill family. The new scholarship is a unique opportunity for prospective students to gain both financial support for education and work experience, in areas from engineering to marketing. According to the Alice Echo News Journal, Principal Owner, Bill Durrill, says scholarship recipients would commit to working at the park during the summer, while also receiving scholarship funds for books and tuition.
