COORDINATOR OF AQUATICS: LIFEGUARDS AND EVENTS
Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics is seeking a highly qualified, dynamic, energetic and creative candidate to fill the job of Coordinator of Athletic Facilities: Lifeguards and Events.

This job assists the Manager of Aquatic Facilities in the coordination and operation of University Park swimming venues by creating a workforce with customer satisfaction and safety at its core. Responsibilities include lifeguard recruitment, orientation, and in-service training, customer service, program management, staff supervision and event management. Will compile facility usage data and reports, research and recommend program-related equipment purchases and maintain equipment inventory, operating at all times within approved budget parameters. This job assists in monitoring building security and safety issues in addition to managing swimming pool and spa water quality and chemistry.

Additional responsibilities include supervising event operations, lifeguarding and teaching lifeguarding, water safety, first aid, CPR/AED and related courses as needed. Works evenings, weekends and holidays as required to adequately supervise staff of 100+ lifeguards and student workers.

Typically requires an Associate's degree or higher in Recreation, Sport Management or an appropriate area of specialization from an accredited institution (Master's degree preferred) plus three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required certifications: Lifeguarding Instructor, Lifeguarding/ First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Certified Pool Operator (or equivalent). Pesticide Applicator's License, Category 24 required within 6 months of hire. Preferred certifications include Lifeguarding Instructor Trainer, Water Safety Instructor, and Emergency Medical Technician.
