CPSC Approves Successor Drain Standard

In a unanimous vote the Consumer Product Safety Commission has approved a new drain cover standard. 

ANSI/APSP-16 2011 will replace  the ANSI/ASME A112.19.8 performance standard mandated by the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act. The law requires that  all swimming pool and spa drain covers conform to ANSI/ASME A112.19.8, or any successor standard. 

Effective September 6, 2011, all drain covers manufactured, distributed, or entered into commerce in the United States must conform to the requirements of ANSI/APSP-16 2011. Read more...
