Fifteen-year-old swimmer Reece Whitley has achieved an honor of which many adult athletes would be envious.

He dons the December cover of Sports Illustrated Kids as its 2015 Sportskid of the year.

The high-school sophomore not only took home two silver medals at this year's World Junior Championships, but he holds five national age group records. He is expected to compete in the 2016 U.S. Olympic trials in June.

Sports Illustrated staff said they chose Whitley because he is well rounded. “Reece embodies all the qualities of what it means to be SportsKid of the Year," said Mark Bechtel, managing editor of Sports Illustrated Kids, in a press release.
