For the second consecutive year, Aquatic Development Group (ADG) is the recipient of the World Waterpark Association’s (WWA) Leading Edge Award. The award was presented at this year’s WWA Show in New Orleans for Breaker Beach, a Boogie Boarding Surf Ride, which the firm said is the first of its kind in North America.

Breaker Beach uses a wave generation system to produce continuous 3-foot spilling breakers designed for riders to boogie board. According to ADG, a dual-launch peninsula doubles ride capacity, making a wave every four seconds for the possibility of 700 or more rides per hour.

"We designed Breaker Beach to respond to the need for parks to continue to differentiate with new and innovative ride options," said Jim Dunn, executive VP for ADG.

ADG premiered the ride this season at the Water World Water Park just outside Denver, Colo. and called it by the name of Cowabunga Beach. The ride was a unique draw for guests, according to the park’s director of communications Joann Cortez, because the state is landlocked.
