Waterpark description: Set in a tropical Polynesian atmosphere, Splash Lagoon features today’s state-of-the-art rides. These include nine slides; the Adventure Bay children’s activity pool; the interactive five-story Tiki Tree House play structure, topped with a 1,000-gallon tipping bucket; a lazy river; three whirlpools; and a water sports pool. Additionally, a 10,000-square-foot wave pool is set to open soon.

The “it” factor: Here it’s all about family-focused leisure time. Besides more than an acre of waterpark space, the complex also includes Lazer Tag; the Treasure Island Arcade, featuring more than 110 state-of-the-art and classic games; and a 3,000-square-foot private party room, available for birthday parties or group outings. Beyond just fun, Splash Lagoon operators have committed to the concept of edu-tainment. One example is the Family Activity Center, where visitors of all ages can create customized T-shirts and sand art.

Today’s family finances are tighter than ever and guests can choose from a range of accommodations, with options to fit almost any budget. Splash Lagoon hotels include family- friendly brands such as Holiday Inn Express, Residence Inn by Marriott and Comfort Inn. The complex is connected to three hotels via overhead walkways, and guests not staying at a directly connected property can access the waterpark via the complimentary SplashWater Taxi.

The waterpark also includes several on-site dining options. Laguna Grill is located directly inside Splash Lagoon, and Boston’s Restaurant and Sports Bar is adjacent. Boston’s features a full menu, including pizza, salads, pasta and desserts. For cocktails, there’s the Tiki Hut, which also offers kid-friendly fruity refreshments.
