Since founding the National Aquatic Safety Co. in 1974, Dr. Hunsucker has grown the Ellijay, Ga.-based organization from a humble beginning of inspecting pools and offering training to its role today as one of the largest lifeguard certification firms in the country.

NASCO trains guards for pools; certifies aquatics facilities; conducts inspections, opens pools for the season, launches new rides and consults on designs for new pools and waterparks.

In addition, Hunsucker served as a contributing author for the Red Cross textbooks on a variety of subjects including swimming, water safety and adaptive aquatics. Over his decades in the industry, he’s contributed thousands of hours as a volunteer across multiple segments of the aquatics field.
