If you think that accountants and waterparks don’t mix, you’d be wrong. Just look at WhiteWater West Industries. Founded in 1980 by a young accountant named Geoff Chutter, the Canadian company has surfed the waterpark wave of the past 25 years, with its slides and rides now in 4,000 projects around the world, according to company officials.

In addition to creating and manufacturing slides and rides, WhiteWater West also is recognized for its skills in conceptualizing master plans for waterparks and the facilities that surround them.

The company has grown organically as well as through acquisition. In 2012, Whitewater picked up Hopkins Rides, a manufacturer of water attractions, as well as Apptivations, a software firm that makes mobile apps for waterparks and amusement parks.
