The Model Aquatic Health Code is coming. Set for initial launch this year, the MAHC is an effort to create a single, uniform set of aquatic standards to be used as a blueprint for states and localities to update their pool codes.
Spearheaded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, with
initial funding by the National Swimming Pool Foundation, this
effort would not have happened without an army of volunteers from
across the industry, including operators, academics, manufacturers
and health officials. Steering committee members are overseeing the
effort and those on technical committees are charged with drafting
the actual documents.
The MAHC is sure to have a powerful impact on the industry, and on
the following pages we’ve highlighted 25 MAHC “power
players,” mainly technical committee chairs or steering
committee members. But regardless of their roles in the MAHC, they
are all accomplished and knowledgeable individuals leading the
industry to new horizons.
