The USA Swimming Foundation's "Make a Splash" program recently teamed up with hip-hop artist Ludacris and Olympic athletes to host swim lessons for kids in the metro Atlanta area.
The Foundation strives to prevent drowning accidents through free or reduced-cost swimming lessons and educating children, parents, and civic leaders on the importance of learning to swim.
"As someone who nearly succumbed to drowning, I know how learning to swim can change your life,” Cullen Jones, two-time Olympic gold medalist, said to 11 Alive Atlanta News WXIA. “Drowning is preventable and we have a great opportunity to teach children how to be safer in and around the water.”
Other celebrities at the event included singer Keri Hilson and Olympic athletes gold medalitsts Jones Rowdy Gaines and Maritza McClendon.
