In another attempt to gain a foothold in the burgeoning water-play market, giant playground maker GameTime has teamed with Rain Drop Products to manufacture a new line of spraypark merchandise.
GTH20 by Rain Drop Products is a co-brand that will be manufactured by the Ashland, Ohio-based Rain Drop and marketed by GameTime, based in Fort Payne, Ala., said Tom Lilly, vice president of sales at Rain Drop. He said that marketing power is the most exciting aspect of the deal.
?They?re the big guns of the playground amenity world,? Lilly said. ?If they get geared up and rolling, there?s going to be tremendous profits.?
GameTime?s product line will focus on zero-depth spray products. The company calls water play a ?natural fit with our customer base and another way we can differentiate ourselves from our competitors,? said Anne-Marie Spencer of GameTime.
Using Rain Drop?s current expertise rather than building the knowledge base from the ground up made the most sense for Game-Time. Lilly called the partnership ?synergistic.?
Already, sales are under way with two dozen jobs quoted, Lilly said. He said projects will take off in the spring.
Sixty percent of Rain Drop?s installations are placed in parks, Lilly said. The other 40 percent are put in commercial pools, hotels, and untraditional parks. He said Rain Drop will not turn its back on current clients. ?We?re just here to make that clear to everybody,? he said. ?We?re here to support everybody who brings us business and not play favorites.?
