With a leisure pool, competition pool, slide pool, lazy river and interactive pool, Hilliard Family Aquatic Center is designed to serve a diverse population. Work was completed in two phases, and the facility replaces an old 50-meter pool and a wading pool. Featuring shallow areas for toddlers, teen areas, competition and lap swimming, and adult and senior areas, the design allows for the maximum amount of water area in the confines of the site.
The aquatic center is the centerpiece of Hilliard Municipal Park. Among the amenities is a slide pool, featuring a 30-foot-high slide tower with a body slide and raft slide. Shade structures also are a key amenity.
The competition pool was added as part of phase I construction in 2007. Phase I additions included new mechanical and a pump buildings. The pools feature regenerative DE filters, alleviating the need for a large site sewer and saving thousands of gallons of water during the season.Fully completed in 2008, the facility opens for swim team practice at 7 a.m. and closes typically at 9 p.m. Nighttime swimming can be accommodated.
