Keep those funnel cakes under lock and key.

Lost Island Waterpark learned that lesson the hard way.

Dylan Anthony Hoffert was arrested on the charge of third-degree burglary following his alleged break-in at the waterpark in Waterloo, Iowa. He and three other perpetrators absconded with an undisclosed quantity of funnel cakes from a concession area.

The fearsome foursome, who shall henceforth be known as the Funnel Cake Bandits, also left a freezer open leaving melted treats in their wake. It's unclear if they managed to first deep-fry the batter or if they simply made off with the raw goods.

Hoffert learned a hard lesson, too.

His alleged ambition to pull off the world’s greatest waterpark heist was thwarted by, of all things, a bandanna. According to the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier, security footage shows Hoffert wearing a bandanna over his face, like an old-fashioned train robber, apparently. The bandanna matches the one Hoffert is seen wearing on his head in a personal Facebook photo.

His bail bond was set at $25,000.

It’s unclear what the going rate is for stolen funnel cakes on the black market.
