Grand Texas Sports and Entertainment District, in New Caney, will open a waterpark and adventure park this summer.

In June, guests will be able to seek respite from the searing Texas heat at Big Rivers Waterpark, part of a massive complex that will also include a dryland adventure park.

Construction at the venue will eventually include a theme park, sports center and factory outlets.

The waterpark will feature a lazy river, wave pool, interactive play structure and waterslides. The separate gate attraction, Gator Boyou Adventure Park, will have zip lines, challenge courses, nature trail and seven-story free-fall tower, according to the Houston Business Journal.

There will also be educational components helping guests learn about the local environment.

Other components of Grand Texas have already debuted, such as an RV park and a racing track.

"Grand Texas has faced significant delays since its master plan was first revealed in 2013. Some delays were due to a lender backing out, the energy downturn and construction delays on infrastructure projects surrounding the project," the Houston Business Journal reports.
