After 10-year-old Caleb Schwab was killed on the world’s tallest waterslide, observers have wondered when the attraction would be torn down. For two years, Verruckt has remained upright at Schlitterbahn Kansas City so that experts and officials could conduct investigations into the child’s death. It appears those investigations are over, as the waterpark announced earlier this month that Verruckt will be dismantled after Labor Day, when the property closes for the season.

The family of Caleb Schwab entered into a settlement with the waterparks giant last year. Additionally, Kansas passed a law meant to step up regulation of amusement parks.

However, this does not end the chapter for Schlitterbahn. At least three officers and employees of the firm, as well as the Kansas City property, have been charged with contributing to the child’s death.
