A popular Utica waterpark and resort says it will re-open it's doors to the waterpark after a massive fire last year caused heavy damage.

In a statement, company officials with Grizzly Jack’s Grand Bear Resort say they will officially re-open to resort guests and public patrons on Friday, April 12, 2019, after a 16-month renovation to the indoor waterpark due to damages sustained during the fire.

As WSPY reported in January of 2018, the waterpark suffered a mechanical fire that was contained to the confines of the indoor waterpark.

No injuries were reported but significant damage was reported. Company officials say an assessment of the damage concluded that the waterpark required an extensive renovation to the interior, exterior and roof of the complex.
