A swim school’s “date night” event turned tragic when a toddler drowned.

Love to Swim, in San Antonio, used watch children while their parents enjoyed a night out. But the program was discontinued in February following the drowning death of a 3-year-old.

According to Spectrum Local News, the toddler, Mitchell Chang, was found unresponsive in the pool during Date Night Open Swim on Saturday, Feb. 10.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death as an accidental drowning.

In a statement to local press, Love to Swim said it was “devastated by the accident” and that it will use “all information gathered by the San Antonio Police Department, and our internal review, to make sure nothing like this can ever happen again. Teaching children to be safer in the water is the reason we exist and our ongoing mission. We will issue a further statement as our investigation yields.”

All Love to Swim employees who were working the night of the accident have since voluntarily resigned or have been placed on administrative leave, according to a report.
