The City of Topeka hoped the new facility would served everyone in its community while drawing interest from surrounding areas.
The country's first bow-tie shaped wave pool was devised to generate such buzz.
The pool relies on Aquatic Development Group’s TwinTides WaveTek system, which generates waves in two directions. The bow tie allows maximum space for the beach entries. The long, narrow form fit the allotted space without the need to bridge elevations.
Lap lanes run along the length of the rectangular pool, which also features racer slide, speed slide, open flume slides, zip line, 3-meter dive stand and climbing wall.
