The 2015 NRPA Conference in Las Vegas wrapped up a few weeks ago after three days of networking, trade show activities and educational seminars. But not before the annual Parks Build Community program project was revealed on September 17. Every year, the NRPA selects a park in the conference host city to renovate as part of its Parks Build Community program, and this year Joe Kneip Park was the lucky recipient.
“Joe Kneip Park is an important community space for the many nearby families who have few options to get outside, recreate and spend time with friends and neighbors. However, the park was in need of major renovation and restoration,” said Jimmy O’Connor, director of conservation with NRPA, in a press release.
On the last day of the conference, the community of North Las Vegas, project sponsors and industry members gathering for an unveiling of the all new Joe Kneip Park, complete with a splashpad featuring various AquaSpray toys donated by Richmond, British Columbia-based WhiteWater West. Ten other sponsors also donated products and services to help rebuild the park.
“The kids of sunny Las Vegas needed a place to cool off and Joe Kneip Park will now be the perfect destination,” a statement from WhiteWater West said.
