Crystal Lagoons

Crystal Lagoons, the Chile-based maker of its own proprietary man-made lake systems, will have a branded resort named after it.

The Phoenix suburb of Glendale, Ariz., will serve as the setting for Crystal Lagoons Island Resort, scheduled to open in 2022, before the city hosts the 2023 Super Bowl.

At the center of the mixed-use development will sit an 11-acre lagoon, which will be up to 10-feet deep. The development also will include seven individually themed islands, retail spaces, restaurants, amusement rides, theaters and other entertainment venues. At least 600 hotel rooms are expected, as well as office spaces.

The lakes, which the company describes with the trademarked term “public access lagoons,” are surrounded by white sand beaches and can be accessed through ticketed entry.

The new property is expected to create 1,800 new jobs and to bring an estimated $700.8 million in new sales, property and bed tax revenues.
