After decades of experience in aquatics management and administration, Shawn DeRosa is focusing full-time on his consulting and training work.
For nine years, DeRosa served at Pennsylvania State University. For the first seven, he was director of aquatics and safety officer for Intercollegiate Athletics/associate director of Campus Recreation, Aquatics and Safety. He spent the next two years as senior associate director of Campus Recreation for Business and Administrative Services.
He had founded DeRosa Aquatic Consulting several years ago, but worked at it part-time. The company specializes in training, expert witness work and risk-management consulting. He also plans to develop new courses for aquatics conferences and events, and perhaps take some online.
An attorney by training, DeRosa has held positions with the National Recreation and Park Association and the Massachusetts State Forrest and Park System (now called the Department of Conservation and Recreation). He also has taught at Salem State College.
