American Pool Enterprises in Owings Mills, Md., recently renovated the aquatics facility of the Boys & Girls Club of Monmouth County at Asbury Park in New Jersey. The organization donated more than 500 hours of skilled manpower and $65,000 in material and supplies.
The renovation included a full facility cleaning, expansion joint replacement, tile repair, resolution of structural leaks, a painted interior, the installation of an automated chemical controller, and replacement of the facility’s 1970s-era filters with a brand-new commercial filtration system.
“As Asbury Park is a shore town, it’s really important for kids who are growing up with the ocean right at their doorstep to be able to swim,” said Doug Eagles, executive director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Monmouth County, in a press release. “You have kids who are oftentimes just not exposed to swimming … and so having a pool available to provide them with those skill sets ultimately saves lives.”
In addition to the new pool, American Pool and developer iStar are constructing a new three-story building that will stand adjacent to the existing structure. American Leisure, Baystate Pool Supplies, Bel-Aqua Pool Supply, CAT Controllers, Hayward Pool Products, Holt Machinery, Mid State Electrical Contracting, Pentair Aquatic Systems, and SCP Distributors also donated their services to make the new center a reality for the community.
