Some new aquatic features have been added to a German property known as the world’s largest indoor waterpark. The Tropical Islands Resort, converted from an airship hangar, is located near Brandenburg, Germany. Already renowned as the world’s largest indoor waterpark, it features Germany’s highest waterslide tower, at 88-1/2 feet.
The site, converted from the Aerium airship hangar also is considerable, measuring 1,606 acre. Now, Istanbul-based Polin Waterparks has added multiple new aquatics attractions.
The aquatics features were designed for interactivity. For one feature, Polin fused eight slides together encompassing 48 pieces of custom-designed plates to form the structure. Polin also blended eight different theme elements into the attraction. Combined, the waterslides take riders on a 1,040-foot journey, with one stretch of slide reaching 216 feet.
Custom-made, wood-like theming camouflages the metal parts on the structures to reinforce the theming, which includes a hut and large, three-dimensional, themed bucket. Ten components combine to create six two-level modules that are anchored using a special floor-mounting system. Similarly, a custom hydro-mechanical system was designed to fit into the smallest space possible. Despite the many custom and specialty aspects of the structure, however, Polin’s safe, adaptable solutions meet all TUV standards.
