The World Waterpark Association is headed to the Big Easy.
Its annual World Waterpark Association Symposium and Trade Show takes place Oct. 24-27 in New Orleans.
Pre-convention instruction begins Oct. 22, including a number of WWA University courses, such as Waterpark Design, Development & Expansion Workshop; the Food and Beverage School; and the Advanced Water Quality Certificate course.
Other pre-event sessions include Aquatic Facility Operator and Certified Pool Operator courses, and a lifeguard licensing class.
From Wednesday to Friday, shorter sessions cover the gamut of waterpark operations, including leadership; team building; resorts; litigation and risk management; new ideas for group sales and birthday parties; food and beverage; and a number of technical subjects, among others.
A session will cover surf parks, which continue to grow in popularity. In a moderated panel discussion, makers of surf simulators and wave generation technology will discuss their systems.
The trade-show floor will be open Wednesday, Oct. 25 and Thursday, Oct. 26.
The event also includes several socializing opportunities. The WWA Annual Golf Tournament takes place Tuesday, Oct. 24. Lunch will be served on the show floor both days. On the evening of the 25th, a Welcome Reception will be held on the trade show floor, then the Annual Reunion Party will take place
at Generations Hall.
