At Aqua Nick Riviera Maya, guests can experience what it’s like to (sing it with us) live in a pineapple under the sea.

Spanning 261,360 square feet, Aqua Nick Riviera Maya is one of the largest Nickelodeon-themed waterparks in Mexico, plunging guests into the whimsical worlds of such classic programs as SpongeBob SquarePants and PAW Patrol.

Wet and Wacky

The designers aimed to bring Nickelodeon’s beloved characters to life through a series of interactive waterplay features.

Among the highlights are Bikini Bottom Beach, a multi-level structure featuring SpongeBob’s pineapple home and his cranky neighbor Squidward’s Easter Island-head house, along with body slides, tipping buckets, and interactive spray features.

Fans of another program also have a dedicated area: PAW Patrol Adventure Bay, an interactive play structure designed for little ones.

Hovering above Bikini Bottom Beach is the iconic Nickelodeon blimp, which recreates the cherished Nick tradition of sliming unsuspecting visitors. The team spent time formulating a “slime” that could prank visitors without leaving longlasting impact. The slime is composed of water with green coloring, not the oozy stuff seen on TV. Separate tanks are used to hold the chlorinated water and the colored “slime” water to prevent cross contamination. The green concoction has been formulated not to stain clothes.

Guests can wave to their favorite Nickelodeon characters along the lazy and adventure rivers. Acrylic windows between the two rivers allow guests to see what’s around the bend. They’ll encounter waves, sprays and various waterfeatures along the journey through the park.

Building on a former quarry, designers utilized the natural topography to provide elevation for waterfalls and to help position acrylic windows so they can give guests a view underneath a river at the park’s entrance.

An activity pool with waterwalks, a wave ball and climbing wall offer fun challenges. The site also includes Soak Summit Tower, which provides ample thrills with a looping body slide, speed slide with drop box, tight coiling tube slide, bowl tube slide, oscillating tube slide, and a four-lane mat racer.

To preserve this colorful world, a maintenance service was developed that would help prevent fading and damage. This new approach protects character branding and the overall integrity of the waterpark design.
