The fourth and newest waterpark resort carrying the Kalahari brand, the Round Rock property boasts the title of World’s Largest Indoor Waterpark.
The 223,000-square-foot waterpark includes 20 pools and whirlpools, along with 30 slides — in a combination meant for all ages and preferences.
For toddlers, Tiko’s Watering Hole and Coral Cove offer gentle play areas with slides, bouncers, mini-basketball, a lazy river and various hands-on activities. Children who can get around on their own can visit Splashdown Safari, with its zero-depth-entry pool, multiple slides, stationary squirt guns and giant tipping bucket. Those more than 48 inches tall have 30 water slides at their disposal, while a 5-foot wave simulator tests those 52 inches and taller. For adults, the Grotto swim-up bar is set in an underground cave with low lighting and ambient LED projections on the walls.
To fit all the attractions while preserving a sense of spaciousness, the design team placed the individual zones around the park’s perimeter. Many of the slides expanded past the exterior walls so they would infringe less upon the indoor space.
Taking its inspiration from Africa, the theming includes depictions of native animals, faux wooden planks and trees found in the continent, along with designs inspired by the landscapes. Green, brown, tan and blue are used extensively, with lighter shades generally chosen for the slide flumes to allow more light in the rides.
