If a to-be-introduced bill passes, grant funding stipulated in the country’s only pool/spa safety law will return.

The grant program stipulated in the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act had expired, and the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Reauthorization Act of 2022 would revive it. If passed, the law would allocate $5 million per year from 2022 to 2027 to be used for grants to entities that help enforce pool/spa safety laws.

It also would expand the scope of eligible entities to include nonprofit organizations, in addition to the government bodies that already were eligible.
