The San Jose (Calif.) Aquatics swim club and its former coach, Andrew King, were named in a civil lawsuit filed by a 15-year-old girl and her father. The suit alleges King repeatedly sexually assaulted the girl, one of 12 victims who claim they were molested by King. The girl and two other accusers also were part of a criminal case prosecuted by the Santa Clara County district attorney’s office earlier this year. King pled no contest.

According to some reports, King had a history of grooming the girls, presenting them with gifts and even extending marriage proposals. One of the alleged victims told the court King had impregnated her at 14, resulting in an abortion. He remains in jail on $3 million bail, awaiting sentencing of up to 42 years.
