Long-standing plans to redevelop the Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Aquatic Complex, which houses the International Swimming Hall of Fame, continue to take shape.
Aiming to create a tourist destination, city commissioners recently moved to begin soliciting bids for development and construction. Plans will include a new waterpark, though there are concerns that the park, which will have a lazy river and slides, might detract from the facility’s swim program. The original proposal also included an aquarium, which was later cut.
