?It appears donations may help several aquatics operations stay open this summer.
In Findlay, Ohio, Riverside Park Pool will open, thanks to contributions from Handbags that Help, a women’s giving circle; the local United Way; and Cooper Tire and Rubber Co. — which will help offset operational expenses. As of mid-February, the Tulsa (Okla.) Parks Department had raised $70,000 toward the goal of $300,000 in its “Break the Ice” pool drive. And in March, community leaders in Newbury, Mass., voted to appeal to residents for contributions to pay for summer lifeguards at Plum Island beach.
