A school district has settled a case with the family of a boy who died last year during a swimming class.
The St. Louis Park School District in Minneapolis will pay $3 million for the death of 12-year-old Abdullahi Charif, who died a few days after being pulled from the pool, according to CBS Minnesota.
"On the day he drowned, the attorney said evidence in the case showed the teacher was using an iPad while allowing everyone to play in the deep end of the pool," the news agency reported. He also was under water for 15 minutes before anyone discovered his body, reports CBS Minnesota.
Following Charif's drowning, the school reportedly had revisited its pool policy.
