The International Swimming Hall of Fame moved another important step toward a revamp. After considering relocation, the organization in 2018 decided to stay at the Fort Lauderdale Aquatics Complex, if the aging complex received a major renovation. The capital partners working with ISHOF and the City of Fort Lauderdale commissioned a design, seen at right, by the firm Arquitectonica. In July, the Fort Lauderdale City Commission voted to move forward.

By law, the city must accept competing bids, but ISHOF Chairman Bill Kent believes the current design likely will be implemented. “There are still steps required by the City, but we believe our dreams will come true,” he said.
