The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance will next update its standards on suction fitting assemblies and commercial pools.

ANSI/APSP/ICC-16 American National Standard for Suction Outlet Fitting Assemblies for the Use in Pools, Spas and Hot Tubs is the standard named in the federal pool/spa safety law for preventing suction entrapment.

ANSI/APSP/ICC-1 American National Standard for Public Swimming Pools also will undergo its cyclical update. It will be renamed PHTA/ICC-1 Standard for Public Pool and Spa Design, Construction and Installation.

Marking its 40th year in standards writing, the PHTA is looking for subject matter experts to help in the development of both updated versions by joining the standards writing committees.

The committees will meet bi-weekly to review and consider suggested revisions to the standards. Those who participate must have a working understanding of the current standard. Those who are not subject matter experts or active users of the standard may attend meetings as observers.

Those interested must apply to participate in the committees by January 27, 2023. Those interested can learn more information about the process and how to participate.
