Music. Art. Food. Surf? Yes, if a development plan moves forward, next year, Austin, Texas, will add surfing to its long list of attributes.
Described by the Austin Business Journal as a "wave pool on steroids," the 12-acre pool will feature 11 different surf areas to cater to all different levels of surfing ability.
The project is being developed by NLand Surf Park, founded by Doug Coors, descendant of Coors Brewing founder Adolph Coors, with the wave pool technology provided by Wavegarden.
Although the exact location of the park hasn't been disclosed, "permits have been filed to construct a 160-acre water park with multiple attractions at near Austin-Bergstrom International Airport."
