Arizona and New Mexico have joined the list of states that have passed Every Child a Swimmer laws. That makes six so far, also including Florida, Georgia, Arkansas and Washington.

The legislation is meant to educate parents and guardians about the importance of water safety and swim lessons for children. Both new laws require schools to provide water-safety information to parents enrolling their kids.
