U.S. Masters Swimming has opened its first national headquarters. Now located in Sarasota, Fla., the national governing body for aquatic fitness and competition chose the site after reviewing proposals from numerous other cities. Since its inception almost four decades ago, the organization had been a virtual, volunteer-based group.
With nearly 50,000 members and a newly appointed executive director in Rob Butcher, “establishing a national headquarters is a natural evolution,” President Rob Copeland said in a statement. Sarasota will also be recognized as a U.S. Masters Swimming Community Partner.
