A court finally has determined a fine for Calypso Water Park. Ontario, Canada, Justice of the Peace Julie Lauzon ordered the facility in Limoges to pay $400,000 in safety violations for incidents that date back to 2011 and 2012.
In April, Calypso was found guilty of 6 safety violations, including failing to adequately train its employees and for failing to operate the Bobsleigh ride safely after an employee launched a second sleigh while another was stuck on the flume. Originally, the park faced 20 charges but 9 had been dropped as of February of this year.
Several civil lawsuits involving injuries had been filed against Calypso, but a judge dismissed the only one to make it to court, ruling the patron could not prove the facility was negligent when she fell and broke her elbow on the park grounds. Read More
