Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon is one of two Walt Disney World Resort waterparks. Visitors are transported into a highly themed aquatic playground set in the aftermath of what was surely a storm of epic proportions.
The centerpiece of the park is the Miss Tilly shrimp boat, resting on the peak of the 95-foot-high Mount Mayday volcano. As the story goes, the boat was unfortunate enough to sail into the storm, and as a result ended up stranded.
Mount Mayday is an “active” volcano and every 30 minutes a geyser of water shoots out. Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, Typhoon Lagoon includes a number of signature attractions such as the Crush ‘n’ Gusher water coaster, a 2.75-million-gallon surf pool with waves up to 6 feet high, the Castaway Creek lazy river, and the Shark Reef where guests can swim with real tropical fish.
