When Kent Lemasters decided to reopen Alabama Adventure amusement park as Splash Adventure, he wanted to create a new generation of waterpark. The result is a reimagining of what was once the waterpark section of the old amusement park. It offers guests a fresh, exciting, hands-on approach to interacting with water elements not found in any other park.

New this year is the Wipeout Adventure Course, a water-based obstacle course that includes edgier thrills for the more adventurous and easier challenges for those just interested in fun. Foot-activated water elements such as water cannons and splash buckets create interaction among guests and the course itself. The course also includes viewing space, so those who don’t want to get wet can still watch the action.

Mist-ical Maze, a labyrinth set in water, is another new attraction, letting guests explore various nooks and crannies and “soak up” the fun with surprising splashes as they round the corners.

Along with these attractions, there’s a zip line; Friday night dive-in movies, set against the back wall of a new 27,000-square-foot Wave ActionPool; a quarter-mile Lazy River ride; a free fall ride; the Up Surge Boomerango water attraction; and interactive play structures.

To enjoy the rides, guests pay a general admission fee 25 percent lower than what was charged last year. All told, the new additions appear to be a formula for success.
