The Rockford Park District has operated Magic Waters Waterpark as an affordable world-class waterpark since 1988. This season the waterpark unveils its newest attraction: the Tsunami Bay wave pool, larger than 700,000 gallons. Magic Waters also is home to 12 water slides, including seven body slides, four tube slides and a four-person family raft ride; an 80-foot-high water coaster; a 1,200-foot-long adventure river; an interactive water-play island with a 1,000-gallon dumping bucket; and a special area just for the little ones. The park also offers accessible features, such as water wheelchairs, zero-depth entries and the Splash Blaster water coaster (a ground-loading, accessible waterpark ride). Other amenities include a sand volleyball court; luxury rental cabanas featuring satellite TV, WiFi, a refrigerator and wait staff; a gift shop; concessions; and the Luau Lanes shaded picnic area for tailgating outside the park. A highly valued tradition at Magic Waters is the policy allowing each group of guests to bring in one carry-in food container for the day, thus helping them stay within their budgets. Magic Waters mascots are Tiki Tina, Shelbert the Sea Turtle and Ocho the Octopus. They provide photo ops and lead fun activities and games for all ages. The facility also offers special events, promotions and Magic Mula, a bar-code system that allows patrons to make cashless purchases using wristbands.
